The Habano Festival once again brought together professionals and fans from all over the world in the capital of Cuba in an edition featuring important anniversaries, such as the 30th year since the creation of Corporación Habanos, S.A., as well as the birth of the iconic brands: Trinidad, Quai d’Orsay and San Cristóbal de La Habana.
If Havana is normally the birthplace of rum, son and the best tobacco in the world, things intensify during the last week of February. This happened again last week, and it has been 24 years now, when hundreds of people from all over the world have gathered in the Cuban capital to enjoy the passion for the cigar.
An exclusive pairing between the new San Cristóbal de La Habana Magníficos, vitola de galera Sublimes, and the Croft Reserve Tawny Port wine served as the starting signal for the XXIV edition of the Habano Festival. Already on Monday, the opening of the Trade Fair made it possible to see up close, in the central areas of the Havana Convention Palace, the work exhibited by experts in the world of tobacco, luxury products and business.
In the middle of the week, at the Intermediate Night, dedicated to the Quai d’Orsay brand and held in the Cubanacan Protocol Hall, attendees were able to discover for the first time the main novelty that Habanos has prepared in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the brand, as is the Quai d’Orsay Especial d’Orsay vitola.
The traditional auction, in which several special humidors from global Habanos brands came up for bid, as well as one in commemoration of the Trinidad brand and another from Cohiba, which achieved the highest collection, 4.5 million euros, and It aroused great applause in the room. And no wonder! The seven humidors are absolutely spectacular. The final result was a new historic collection: 17.8 million euros that, like every year, will be allocated to the Cuban National Health System.
