Storage Instructions
For the COHIBA WIDE SHORT (6 x 10) store your cigars in a quality humidor to preserve flavor and burn characteristics. Aim for a relative humidity between 68% and 72% with 70% as an ideal target. Keep the temperature steady between 65ºF and 70ºF, which is 18ºC to 21ºC. A Spanish cedar lined humidor will help maintain stable humidity and impart a subtle seasoning that complements the cigar. Because the COHIBA WIDE SHORT has a broader ring gauge and compact profile, allow for good air circulation inside the humidor so each cigar can equilibrate evenly. Avoid rapid temperature or humidity swings, direct sunlight, and strong odors that can penetrate the wrapper. If you do not have a calibrated humidor, use two-way humidity packs rated for 69% or 72% as a reliable alternative for maintaining stable conditions.
Care Tips
Handle the COHIBA WIDE SHORT with clean dry hands and avoid squeezing the body to protect the wrapper leaf. When preparing to smoke, give new purchases an acclimation period of at least one to two weeks in your humidor so the cigar reaches proper humidity. For those who enjoy aging, this blend often rewards short to moderate cellaring of six months to a few years depending on your taste for mellowing and complexity. Use a sharp straight cut or a quality punch for a broad ring gauge to ensure an even draw and an even burn. Toast the foot gently before lighting to protect the wrapper and to promote an even ignition. If traveling, carry the cigar in a dedicated travel humidor or a sealed container with a humidity pack to maintain condition. Regularly monitor your humidor with a calibrated hygrometer and rotate cigars occasionally to encourage uniform humidity exposure.
Reviews and Ratings
There are limited official reviews published for this exact COHIBA WIDE SHORT 6 x 10 vitola. Major cigar publications such as Cigar Aficionado and Halfwheel have not widely covered this specific short and wide format, so formal scores are scarce. That said, community feedback and retailer notes for similar Cohiba wide ring gauge releases tend to highlight a plush, creamy profile with layered cedar and cocoa notes, a smooth draw, and a premium construction. Enthusiasts who enjoy broad ring gauge cigars often praise the format for delivering concentrated flavor in a short smoking time, and early customer impressions reflect that same balance and richness here.
History and Heritage
Cohiba is one of the most iconic names in cigars, originating in Cuba in the 1960s and later appearing in non Cuban lines produced with different tobaccos. The brand is associated with meticulous blending, small batch production, and a reputation for refined flavor. A wide short vitola like the COHIBA WIDE SHORT 6 x 10 is a modern expression of that tradition, designed to emphasize the blend s richness in a compact format. Expect careful leaf selection, a focus on balance, and the kind of craftsmanship that has made Cohiba a reference point for many aficionados.
Tasting Notes
The COHIBA WIDE SHORT ( 6 X 10)1 delivers a luxurious, medium‑to‑full bodied profile with a broad, velvety draw that rewards the palate from first light. Rich waves of dark cocoa and espresso open the smoke, underscored by toasted cedar and savory leather, while a background of black pepper and warm baking spice asserts itself in the mid‑section. A creamy, nutty sweetness—think toasted almond and a touch of honey—softens the finish, leaving floral cedar and lingering coffee bitters on the retrohale. The wide ring gauge produces voluminous, cool smoke and complex aromatics that reveal new layers with each third.
Pairing Suggestions
Aged rum (Barbadian or Cuban‑style añejo), its caramel and oak notes mirror the cigar’s cocoa and honeyed tones while cutting through the leather and spice; Single‑origin espresso or an espresso macchiato, intense coffee flavors amplify the cigar’s espresso and bitter chocolate notes and refresh the palate between puffs; 70–80% dark chocolate or an aged Manchego, the chocolate’s bittersweet depth complements the cigar’s cocoa core and the cheese’s savory nuttiness dovetails with the cigar’s toasted almond and cedar finish.
